It started in a New York basement
ploq is the calm, modern way to run properties and buildings — born from one very chaotic bookcase.
Why we built ploq
In 2020 I visited an old family friend in New York — 77 years old, sharp as ever, and the owner of more than 400 apartments there plus another 200 back in Athens. I stayed at his place, and his "office" was the basement.
His system? One paper folder per apartment, lined up across a bookcase. Who lived where, who had paid, which lease ended when — all on paper. It was impressive and completely chaotic, and I couldn't unsee it.
Back home I pitched a friend, Manos, on a better way: one clear place for every property, lease, tenant and payment. That idea became ploq. We build it from Athens, for renting across Europe.
How we got here

A New York basement, 600+ apartments run on paper folders. The spark.
- 2021–24Nights and weekends
I pitched Manos, and we built the first version of ploq on the side, around full-time jobs.
- 2025Heads down
We went all-in — rebuilding ploq around how landlords, managers and tenants actually work.
- 2026Pilot in Athens
ploq is now live with early landlords across Athens, sharpened by real feedback.
